Lamb is a such a versatile meat, and ground lamb makes absolutely lovely burgers.
Homemade burger patties are so quick, easy, and fun to make. I love making patties myself, rather than grabbing a box from the freezer, especially as you can add as much flavor as you can imagine to get a burger that utterly melts in your mouth.
I have been absolutely useless with regards to posting new recipes here on the blog this week. It's just been one of those weeks were I have barely had an opportunity to think! But here I am again, finally, on a Friday evening. Dreaming of a big juicy burger for dinner.
You can use this basic lamb patties recipe as a guide to try out all sorts of flavor combinations - feta, rosemary, Moroccan, get creative!
Lamb Burgers
Serves 4
Lamb Patties:
400 g lamb mince
2 Tbsp finely grated Parmesan
1 Red chili, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 onion, finely diced
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 Cup wholemeal breadcrumbs
1 Tbsp finely chopped rosemary
Burgers:
4 Bread Rolls (I use ciabatta rolls)
Lettuce
Cheese
Onion Rings
Fried mushrooms
1. Combine all of the lamb pattie ingredients together in a bowl, divide into four equal sized portions and shape into patties.
2. Heat oil in a large fry pan and fry the patties until cooked through (about 10-15 minutes), turning occasionally. Just before they are done, place a slice of cheese on top of each pattie and allow to melt before removing from the heat and assembling burgers.
